In Christ Alone – A Study in Hebrews
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. (Hebrews 4:14)
The book of Hebrews emphasizes the transition from the former covenant, to the new, in Jesus Christ. It demonstrates not only God’s provisional plan through Israel’s history for Jesus’ work of redemption, but also his superiority in his working out our salvation. Hebrews is a journey in Christology, studying the person of Christ, and how he not only saves us as our great prophet, priest, and king, but how he continues to help us at God’s right hand. Hebrews encourages us to “hold fast our confession” of him, knowing that he intercedes on our behalf, and knows every trial and temptation that we face. His victory is sure, and we are encouraged to know this more fully as we journey through this book. Come journey with us!
